WHAT IS A DIGIPAK?

A Digipak is a form of packaging for CD's used especially for singles and special album releases.
A Digipak is usually formed in the way of a book-style, also known as a 'Gatefold'... as shown in the image to the left. Inside a Digipak there is typically one or more plastic trays capable of holding one or more CD's.

Format of the Digipak
The front of the Digipak will have a form of aspect of what the artist represents, as well as giving the audience a good idea of what type of music they will be buying; this is understood through the colours and attitude shown on the cover.
The Digipak also exposes the artist in a creative fashion. All angles of the Digipak include the music video, brand image and the artist are all interwoven together.
Benefits
Digipaks benefit the album/single as well as the artist because the Digipak is a promotional package used in the music industry to grab audiences attention to buy the product. This brings awareness to the artist, therefore making them more known as they will be memorable from the package as well as their music. It is argued that if a fan buys a Digipak it establishes their loyalty to the artist.
